The Importance of Planning

Before beginning to work on your goals, you must first plan carefully. But do not plan for ventures before finishing what’s at hand. To accomplish great things you must first dream, then visualize, then plan, then believe, then act. Your goals can only be reached through the vehicle of a plan, in which you must fervently believe, and upon which you must vigorously act. There is no other route to success. To be successful, all you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press on to your destination until you succeed.

Why is planning so important? Because if you could first know where you are, and whither you are tending, you could then better judge what to do, and how to do it. If you want to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win. To be successful, you must first set your goals. You must create a definite plan for carrying out your desire and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action.

Make a plan for achieving them and set yourself a deadline. Then, with faith, determination, and disregard of obstacles, carry out your plan with zeal and enthusiasm. You should plan your work for today and every day, then work your plan today and every day until you succeed in achieving what you planned for.

No matter how carefully you plan your goals they will never be more than pipe dreams unless you pursue them with vigor and enthusiasm. If you plan on being anything less than you are capable of being, you will probably be unhappy all the days of your life.

You must always expect the best and prepare to be surprised. That is why you must also plan for the worst. You must always have a backup plan.
